This was a personal brief where I rebranded my existing Depop shop called Lf.fitss: The Home of Thrifted + Second-hand Streetwear.
As an avid lover of styling my own outfits and thrifting since my trip to Atlanta in 2017, I started my Depop nearly a year ago to simply sell clothes I no longer wore. Originally with a graffiti-style illustrated logo (visually referenced at the bottom) and illustrated cloud background, I wanted a visual refresh with the aim of attracting more sales.
My original visual identity aimed to be authentic looking and more DIY to reflect the type of items I sold. Depop added in a few extra features over the year to help with sales, so I redesigned and used these features to my advantage.
Boost feature - The boost feature was introduced by Depop as a built-in advertising service to help push sellers' items in search results and across Depop platforms (computer/phone). When re-designing my shop's visual identity, this boost feature was now considered.
I aimed to create a style that reflected the genre of Streetwear. I still wanted to include a personal element in the design (excluding embedding my initials) so added my signature to the logomark. After re-designing, I noticed it was instinctively inspired by the street style of the iconic game Grand Theft Auto. As a lot of my items were vintage and thrift, I wanted the visual style to reflect that i.e. vintage, DIY/grunge and retro. This included the retro colour overlay style for advertising imagery, layered sticker-style elements and the additional street grunge and textured noise.
Used Software: Adobe Illustrator + Photoshop
I designed cover images to attract the attention of buyers and additionally used the Depop boost feature to help with views. With this feature, I can track the analytics and I can confirm that the change in design has greatly improved the viewing rate of my items, going from 200-1000 views.
To embed a more seasonal look into my design, I created limited edition cover images to reflect the winter season.
For the additional element of advertising imagery and cover art, I created these four to help advertise my shop content. I love the Pinterest platform and often use it for creative and fashion inspiration. To add to the personal element and exclude any chance of copyright I used my own imagery, which again displays my love for styling and streetwear fashion.
